The person who wrote this article doesn't love hers!

I get where she's coming from, because I keep my AC on low, around 80 degrees in the summer. I can't stand freezing inside the grocery store, the movie theater and other people's homes who think it needs to be 65 inside at all times. I was recently hot in Wal-Mart and an employee said they keep the air lower now. Not a bad idea really.

The writer of the article, however, is obviously (and admits it) from somewhere a bit more north than North Carolina. I say it's not healthy to be cooped up in a house without air conditioning in the South, especially if you, like me, have pets inside.

It's all relative: When I lived in North Dakota, I survived without AC, but when my AC stayed broken for several days in my third-floor Memphis apartment one summer, my dogs and I nearly melted.

It wouldn't hurt to bump the temperature up a little in your house. Save some money. Open some windows at night. Like most things, moderation is key.
