Lenders and AGs Dispute Loan Modifications
The big sticking point between banks and state attorneys general could be loan modifications.
The AGs are investigating whether banks failed to properly review loans or illegally evicted borrowers. Several of them have said that loan modifications were a possible remedy.
But Attorney Andrew Sandler, who represents lenders at Washington, D.C., firm Buckley Sandler, says that idea won't fly. "That's where servicers will draw a line in the sand.”
