Help Sellers Boost Energy Efficiency
As the weather cools, what better way to sell a home than to tout the fact that the home owners have performed an energy audit? Share the free article “Conduct Your Own Energy Audit” from the November “Essential Maintenance” theme now available at the REALTOR® Content Resource. Here’s just some of the information:
1. Check your home’s exterior envelope. This refers to the windows, doors, walls, and roof exposed to outdoor air. Hold a candle or stick of incense near windows, doors, electrical outlets, range hoods, plumbing and ceiling fixtures, attic hatches, and ceiling fans in bathrooms. When smoke blows, you’ve got a draft from a source that may need caulking, sealant, weather stripping, or insulation.
2. Check insulation R-value, or thickness. Where insulation is exposed (in an attic, unfinished basement, or around ducts, water heaters, and appliances), use a ruler to measure it, recommends the Department of Energy. Compare your results against those suggested for your region via an insulation calculator.
With new enhancements to the REALTOR® Content Resource, you can now share the “Essential Maintenance” articles with consumers via Facebook, Twitter, and e-mail directly from the REALTOR® Content Resource. You can also search more easily for content by themes (formerly “Collections”) or keywords.
